Our Process

How our standards are developed

Standardised, community-endorsed protocols to monitor, assist, and drive the people, products and services within your organisation as well as helping you stay in line with global expectations.

  • Question mark

    1: Stage Alpha (α)

    Identify current trends, purpose, and requirements; why do we need a standard for this particular subject at the present time?

  • Dividing into groups

    2: Stage Beta (β)

    Divide participating stakeholders into competing working groups (WDG), grouped by ideology and similarity of ideas.

  • Drafting individual proposals

    3: Stage Gamma (γ)

    Each working group (WDG) will proceed to work on their own draft proposals for this particular standard.

  • Presenting draft standard

    4: Stage Delta (δ)

    Each working group will present their final proposal at our biannual congress, then use received feedback to amend the proposal.

  • Merge standard

    5: Stage Epsilon (ε)

    After each working group has amended their proposal, all working groups come together to finalise the draft standard.

  • Ballot and passing

    6: Stage Zeta (ζ)

    The draft standard will go through final round of feedback, and INVL will ballot participating members and sponsors on passing it.

CNI 103:2025

Global Affairs - Linguistic Classification Codes for Country-Family-Writing systems based on the DOI ICPL database

The CNI 103 is a standard for coding languages, dialects, and their written respresentations. This standard is based off the community-contributed DOI ICPL database from world renowned linguists.


The standard focuses on unifying multi-dialect or written form identifications for use in AI or IT systems, documentations and more. The standard is heavily linked to the ICPL databases and will will be revised once the database reaches each stage of maturity.

CNI 5200:2026

Health Care — Models and Guidelines for Evidence-based practice of Emergency Medicine (EM)

From paramedic ambulances to emergency wards, this set of guidelines aim to offer a clear step-by-step process on to how handle different cases based on past experiences and inputs from HR doctors, nurses, as well as chemists and pharmacists. It has a dedicated subsection for improvisation and non-standard procedures and therapy for handling rare cases.

CNI 5300:2025

IT in Health Care — Health data Framework and Interchange resources (HFI)

CNI 5300 specifies the requirements, practical implementation, and medical perspective on how to best structure (create, write, store) patient data in digital systems. It also outlines a general approach for enabling seamless communication between healthcare systems through structured data as well as shareability across diverse platforms such as Windows, macOS, or proprietary Linux systems (also known as interoperability).


This standard uses a "resource-based" approach to structuring diverse and complex patient data, by incorporating specific elements into multiple tables, which can then be implemented by different software and database systems while keeping the same behind-the-scenes data structure for future interoperability and system upgrades.


Please note that this standard comes with a supplementary spreadsheets illustrating the table structure of the health resource data, in either CSV or Microsoft Excel® formats.

CNI 5301:2025

IT in Health Care — Health data Compatibility, Interoperability, and Patient Privacy

CNI 5301 is an extension to the CNI 5300 health data framework and interchange resources (HFI) standard. It covers additional implementation areas not included in the base CNI 5300 standard. It focuses on the technological aspects - how these resources can be modified, transfered and shared between systems (i.e. different operating systems, device types, locale) while adapting to various regulatory environments. It also includes best software implementation practices for system scalability and minimizing hardware resource consumptions.

Where existing standards do exist and our standards overlaps with it, our committee of professionals will carefully try to ensure maximum conformance and compatibility on these overlapping areas. In practice, this means our standards will be amended to conform with existing standards in tandem with the new innovations.
